EXPERIMENTS IN DEMOCRACY

This project examines how experiments in local democracy (community ownership, community wealth building, foundational economy etc) can foster inclusive societies and counter exclusionary populist trends by empowering ordinary people. Through active participation and involvement in social, political and economic infrastructure, it examines the manifold ways that people in places are working together, commoning knowledge and practice to reclaim places and people from the margins and reconnect them to each other and, perhaps, to national politics.

The project also received funding from the University of Turin to carry out research on the integration of Ukrainian refugees in Europe. A team of sociologists, political scientists and linguists, undertook a study with the aim of verifying the actual existence of the "solidarity differential" and understanding the reasons behind it.
