Ce colloque international regroupe un grand nombre de chercheurs spécialistes des Celtes et du monde celtique. Si les Celtes sont aujourd’hui très à la mode, on peut se demander à quoi cette dénomination renvoie réellement : qu’est-ce qui est réellement « celtique » ? Afin de répondre à cette question, les chercheurs présents s’interrogeront sur le rapport qu’entretiennent les traditions modernes dites « celtiques » (folklore, musique, arts visuels, contes et légendes…) et les mythes celtiques anciens, tels qu’on les retrouve sous la plume des auteurs médiévaux.

Une demi-journée sera consacrée à la présentation du projet « An Domhan », développé par les Départements Communication Hypermédia (Gaëtan Le Coarer, Ghislaine Chabert et Marc Veyrat) et LLCER Anglais (Noémie Beck) de l’SUMB. Le prototype VR pourra être testé par les participants lors du colloque - sur inscription. Le colloque se terminera par une table ronde qui permettra aux différents intervenants d’échanger leurs idées et de débattre sur de nouvelles perspectives scientifiques de diffusion, de création et d’innovation autour des mythes et folklores celtiques, notamment pour le grand public.

Celtic Myths and Folklores in the Anglophone World

This international conference will bring together a number of researchers specializing in the study of the Celts and the Celtic world. Although the Celts are now in vogue, one can wonder what the term actually refers to: what is actually “Celtic”? In order to answer the question, specialists will question the relationship between the allegedly “Celtic” modern traditions – folklore, music, visual art, tales and legends… – and the ancient Celtic myths that were transcribed in the Middle Ages.

Half a day will be dedicated to the presentation of the “An Domhan” project, which has been developed by the Departments Communciation Hypermedia (Gaëtan Le Coarer, Ghislaine Chabert et Marc Veyrat) and LLCER Anglais (Noémie Beck) of USMB. Participants will have the opportunity to test the VR prototype during the conference – by registration only. The conference will end with a roundtable during  which  every  participant  will  have  the  opportunity  to  share  their  ideas  and constructively debate new scientific perspectives (publication, creation, innovation) regarding Celtic myths and folklores, notably regarding their transmission to the general public.
